Where's Joe Strummer?

by Steam Train Hearts

Aldora Britain Records are proud to present the latest single taken from the Steam Train Hearts' long overdue debut record. The album was originally started several years ago (the first single was 2017's 'Uncertainty') but was shelved as frontman, Wallace Dietz, pursued a busy recording schedule with The Silent Boys and The Shattered Hopes. 2020 sounded the call however, and now it is time for this train. The train is a-rolling in, it's the Steam Train Hearts.

'Where's Joe Strummer?' is an admiring tribute to the godfather of the protest song. It is an impactful and meaningful encapsulation of the punk icon's legacy, and asks what Joe Strummer's take on the modern world would be. What would he make of the politics, the inequality and the war-mongering? Through exploring these themes, Wallace Dietz succeeds in delivering a protest song of his own, a simplistic longing for some sort of hope. A hope that is missing in 2020. It is a call-to-arms for the 21st century.

Musically, the Steam Train Hearts deliver a melodically-minded slice of alternative indie rock. There are heavy 80s college influences, existing in a territory slightly out of the 'mainstream' rock sound. A nod to obscurity is a prerequisite for any Dietz project of course. Wilfully obscure rock and roll, it is coming out of the shadows. Be ready.
