Welsh songsmith Richard Thomas, a.k.a. Mint Biscuit, returns to Aldora Britain Records with a four-track EP, the superb To Get Back Home.

To Get Back Home is a collection of Mint Biscuit's lo-fi blues tunes. Throughout, there is a fantastic mash-up of heavy roots with an unrelenting Brit rock undercurrent. These two opposing styles mix effortlessly, creating a seamless and brilliant new sound. 'North-Easter' and 'Atlantic Highway Blues' are gritty and longing in equal measure, and 'Summer Song' and 'Once There Was A Sweet Way' show off a more reflective side. Another quintessential offering from Mint Biscuit.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff.
