Brighton indie pop collective Tenderhooks return to Aldora Britain Records with their reflective new single, 'The Hour Glass'.

'The Hour Glass' is a deathly ballad, watching time close in and tick down. It shows a more reserved side to Markus Leinweber's songwriting, more mature and emotionally-driven. A slow shuffler that could sit perfectly besides the anthemic pop choruses that Tenderhooks are known for. Think of a cross between Paul Weller's 'Broken Stones', Richard Hawley's atmospheric musings, and a Billy Joel ballad. You may end up somewhere close!

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
