Chicago's The Geminis return with their second Aldora Britain Records release. This single features two tracks, 'South' and 'Pocket Mandala'.
'South' is a groove-driven road trip into the sonic territories of the American jam band. The track's foundations are laid in classic roots rock, but with a colourful psychedelic twist. It is undoubtedly a companion piece to their previous outings, 'Kentucky Gone' and 'Monkey'. The flipside, the instrumental 'Pocket Mandala', explores these themes further with hints of reggae, soul, and ska, a sonic adventure to Kingston, Jamaica. This release shows The Geminis growing and becoming the powerhouse band we know they can be.
For fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, The Wailers, The Georgia Satellites, and Band Of Horses.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points.
This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor

The slashing roots rock on “Out On the Line” always makes its way to the kind of triumphant chorus that quickens the pulse. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 2, 2023
