Eclectic collective Necessary Animals, under the leadership of the brilliantly talented Keith Rodway, return to Aldora Britain Records. This time, they deliver an exceptional new single, 'Natasha Says'.

'Natasha Says' is an interstellar track with an understated approach. The players find themselves navigating the furthest sonic reaches of the universe with a dark post-punk feel pulsating throughout. The tune is shrouded in mystery, some sort of synthwave enigma or dark pop riddle, and ventures far into the realms of the avant-garde. Overall, another gloriously experimental offering from the Necessary Animals.

For fans of Pink Floyd, The Orb, Wire, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, and Miles Davis.

Keith Rodway, Necessary Animals: "I think in the current era there's a tendency for bands to develop a brand image or a way of working that sets up an audience's expectations as to what those bands are going to sound like, and that then becomes a trap. I come from a world where people experiment with different approaches."

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
