Tintagel-based singer/songwriter John O'Sullivan returns to Aldora Britain Records, releasing a third single from his How The West Was One reissue. 'Midnight Oil' joins 'Almost Independent Day' and 'Celtic Moon'.

'Midnight Oil' is a gloriously beautiful love song with a mystical Celtic rock ambience. A true highlight of John O'Sullivan's lengthy songwriting career, the track has a classic feel from the very first listen. Reminiscent of The Waterboys and The Silencers, there is a roaming and evolving feel. A cleverly constructed and performed composition.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
