about

Independent Music Sampler #137

Aldora Britain Records proudly presents Ivy Jo, an eclectic collection of 26 independent and underground songs from all around the globe. This collection's title is in memory of Ivy Jo Hunter, an integral part of the Motown legacy of the 1960s. Thanks for the music, Ivy Jo.

We welcome back several old friends this week. Zen Baseballbat return with their new wave dub, Nicholas Rowe gives us his stream-train alt country, and Jon Fazal introduces us to his take on baroque folk rock. There is the lo-fi southern rock of Mike Stapleton, the soaring country rock of Tenderhooks, and the whacky art rock of Paul Inglis. Jan Linton is back with his progressive electro post-rock, and Apple Tree Lament feature with the experimental ambient soundscapes of Cherry Worm.

Mega Dodo Records serve up a double-header. They provide us with the technicolour psychedelic pop of Mordecai Smyth, and the quirky psychedelic raga of Phil Royal. Our good friend Garrington T. Jones comes on board with one of his past projects, The Aviators, melodic mod revival, and Big Stir Records feature the driving powerpop of the Popular Creeps.

As always, please download, listen loud, dig deeper with your discoveries, and support Aldora Britain Records and independent music.
