I Just Wanna Be Me

about

Aldora Britain Records proudly welcomes back Australian noir collective Moonlight Five. 'I Just Wanna Be Me' is the band's third single, following on from 'Lockdown Blues' and 'Listening To Gospel Music On The Radio'.

Spacious, roaming, soaring, orchestral, noir. These are just some words that we could use to describe this latest outing from the Moonlight 5. 'I Just Wanna Be Me' is a song that is undeniably of its time. It is a track that has been born out of COVID, inspired by the tumultuous experiences that we endure during pandemic life. On both a personal and global level. It is a longing for some sort of normalcy.

The band continue to showcase their musicianship too. This is perhaps the most intricate and impressive arrangement to date. Orchestral flourishes punctuate the song and the French monologue in the track's latter half is a brilliant addition. On top of all this, one gets the impression that is only just the beginning for the Moonlight Five.

For fans of Shane MacGowan, Tom Waits and Nick Cave.
