WE'RE BACK! A tumultuous time at Aldora Britain Records has meant a month with no new compilations. We have had health problems in the family, family reunions, COVID isolations, and even a hard drive crash for good measure! But, I am beyond excited to say... THE SHOW GOES ON... and there is some brilliant music that I am desperate to share with you! Here we go...
Weekly Independent Music Sampler #119
Aldora Britain Records proudly presents Hummingbird Hum, an eclectic collection of 26 songs from all around the globe. The title this week is a tribute to a brilliant time keeper and sticksman extraordinaire, Randall Lee Gibson IV. He provided the rhythm and the backbeat of two ABR favourites, The Stigmatics and Hummingbird Syndicate. Randall passed away towards the end of January, our thoughts go out to his family, friends, band mates, and fans.
For this particular collection, we welcome back some familiar and friendly faces. We have the rousing rockabilly fun of Atomic Papas, the piercing alt rock of Joel David Weir, and the traditional English folk of Arfur Doo And The Toerags. There is also noir folk blues from Andrew Ferguson As SIASA, flowing jazz marvel from Andy Pratt, and progressive folk rock from John O'Sullivan. Blackcat Elliot give us some powerhouse garage rock, Soziales Hetzwerk show us what melodic Deutsch rock sounds like, Horny Henry bring us the DIY progressive rock, and Maze get anthemic with some brilliant Britpop revival.
That isn't enough though! We also team up with some of our favourite record labels too. Saustex provide the alternative cowpunk swing of The Beaumonts, Big Stir give us the crunching melodic rock of Chris Church, and Tiny Room don't disappoint with the quirky bedroom psychedelia of Victory Hall. Dark wave brilliance comes from Blackjack Illuminist Records and Vlimmer, and jazz mavericks Le Fondeur De Son deliver us Alice's Mirror Quartet.
