John O'Sullivan is a songwriter who has earned his stripes. Decades of writing and performing, neatly punctuated by criminally underrated offerings such as How The West Was Won. This particular album, originally released in 2012, was produced and recorded in collaboration with Paul Johnstone over an 18-month period. There are unforgettable pop choruses ('Celtic Moon'), progressive folk outings ('Going Back To Camelot', 'Crucified', 'Sanctuary'), Americana journeys ('Almost Independence Day', 'Midnight Oil', 'How The West Was Won'), and Celtic rock ('Girls From Galway Bay'). The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
