Australian troubadour Phil Smith becomes the latest member of the Aldora Britain Records music family with his brand new single, the spellbinding 'Hallelujah'. This track is taken from Phil's recent studio album, Into The Night.

'Hallelujah' is a songwriter's cut in the troubadour tradition. The free-roaming nature of the song provides a quintessential highway soundtrack, travelling over endless expanses of country and western landscape. As is ever the case with Phil's music, there is a strong rootsy grit with the spirit of rock and roll seeping through. The recording and playing is tight, smooth and soulful, with harmonica punctuation and rumbling guitar lines, and Phil's vocals have a true and honest edge.

For fans of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Drake, Tom Petty, and Neil Young.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
