Changing Faces

about

The Feedback File return with their brand-new single, 'Changing Faces'.

'Changing Faces' is a beautiful insight into the artistic mind of John Almond. This is a lovingly crafted song, overflowing with emotion and a soulful undertone. Themes of melancholy and regret blend with a more optimistic feeling, perfectly contrasting and conveying true and honest experiences. Sonically, The Feedback File explore a space that lands somewhere between the realms of indie folk rock and a classic jangle pop sound.

For fans of John Martyn, Nick Drake, Jimmy Webb, Joni Mitchell, and Burt Bacharach.

John Almond, The Feedback File: 'I've always wanted to try and present my songs in the best possible light ... I want to serve the song."

-----------

A year or so ago, I met a fellow musician called Steve Jupe who just happened to live in the same street as myself. We have both been here for over twenty years but were blissfully unaware of each other. Following a few beers, we decided that clearly we should try and do some music together, and that partnership is now bearing fruition on a number of new songs that I've written, with 'Changing Faces' being the first one out of the box. I was keen to make these songs sound a bit different to the usual Feedback File 'acoustic' template. Steve's background is much more indie rock based and I gave him a relatively free rein in the song's arrangement.

Sarah Vallance sings with me and the idea behind our vocal arrangement is to show a couple who are feeling uncertain about their relationship, maybe for the first time, but each not realising that those same doubts are being internally echoed by the other. However, the song is also about recognising that life keeps changing, and that whilst some days all you can see are clouds, the blue sky is always there and will eventually reappear.
