Almost Independence Day

about

Tintagel-based singer/songwriter John O'Sullivan returns to Aldora Britain Records with his brand new single, 'Almost Independence Day'. The track acts as the follow up to his 2021 self-titled 4-track EP. It is also the first single to be taken from the 10-year anniversary reissue of How The West Was Won, coming to AB Records this summer.

'Almost Independence Day' is a countrified folk rock offering that clearly shows O'Sullivan's love of American rootsy music. It has a progressive edge too, as if he is welding together the best part of his native English folk influences, and the cosmic equivalent of contemporary America. It has an intrinsically charming and warm feeling, but one may get the impression that the lyrics may occasionally stray towards more 'serious' topics. Well, that is just quintessential O'Sullivan songwriting!

For fans of Tom Petty, Fairport Convention, Donovan, The Byrds, and Richard Thompson.
