about

From the same Scottish songwriting scene that gave us Andrew Ferguson As SIASA and Martin John McGroarty, Aldora Britain Records is proud to introduce the brilliantly refined genius of Norman Lamont. This particular release, entitled Walking Backwards Into, is a 'best of' of sorts, a collection that Norman handpicked for ABR from his back-catalogue from 2004 up to the present day.

Walking Backwards Into is a mash-up, a big melting pot, an eclectic stroll through a musical wilderness. This endless variety and free-roaming spirit is its beauty. Listeners will be reminded of Bob Dylan's soul-searching folk ramblings, Leonard Cohen's melancholic or moody intensity, and John Martyn's shuffling storytelling rhythms. This is no tribute though, each track finds a way of being uniquely Norman Lamont. It is crafted from the experience of the songwriter and in a relatable way. All these points seem to be what makes a truly great songwriter, perhaps that is what we have here, walking backwards, in Norman Lamont.
