THE END OF A NIGHTMARE (Music & lyrics by Angelo Pitone © 2021) It's hard to sleep now 'cause you're messing up with my head. Since it began, I only slept three hours in three days. I need some help. I need to rest, but I have to stay awake. Brother, I think you're losing yourself. It's better to keep quiet Please, don't worry; it's only your fucking imagination Time will erase the pain you feel, not now, but only when you're healed! Is this the end of a nightmare for everyone? What's your private hell? What d'you think you deserve? What's your regret? Is this the end of a nightmare for everyone? What's your private hell? What d'you think you deserve? What's your regret? Please, don't worry; it's only your fucking imagination Time will erase the pain you feel, not now because you're garbled and dazed. Yeah-y-eah-y-wah-y-eeeeeaaaaaahhhh Is this the end of a nightmare for everyone? What's your private hell? What d'you think you deserve? What's your regret? Is this the end of a nightmare for everyone? What's your private hell? What d'you think you deserve? What's your regret? Is that your regret?

about

RELEASE DAY: Nightmare’s end.

Angelo Pitone, a.k.a. Of Shadows and Lights, returns with a second single on Aldora Britain Records. ‘The End of a Nightmare’ is a continuation of Pitone’s sonic and lyrical exploration, each release pushing the boundaries out slightly more. Direct and honest in its intentions, the track brings in glimpses of the rock-inspired synthwave that we have come to expect, but there is something else at play too. Post-punk is in the mix and a subtle metallic undertone in the extended instrumental segment. It is alternative, for sure, encompassing a never-ending array of genres and stylistic approaches, both authentic and more electronic too.

The electro element is the beauty of the OSAL world really. It is always there as an undercurrent and is mixed brilliantly and effortlessly with the spirit of harder and heavier takes on rock and roll. As always, there is a strong melodic element that remains stuck in your mind after the completion of the song, emphasising Pitone’s songwriting aptitude.

The lyrics are a real talking point too. An adventure into the nocturnal world that holds a huge sway on reality and the everyday. Influenced by the experiences of the collective over the last year or so, is this a nightmare, is this hell, is this pain? These are the questions that are thrown around Pitone’s mind as he lays his soul bare on this track. It is certainly a strong follow-up to Almost Prophetic Visions and Thoughts (debut studio album) and ‘Under Control’ (most-recent single).
