about

Aldora Britain Records proudly presents the superb new single from The Vodka Tourists, 'The Dreamcatcher of Shelley Street'. The single includes two B-sides and is taken from the upcoming 'Cambria' record, the second studio album to be released by the band.

'The Dreamcatcher of Shelley Street' encapsulates the feelings of abandonment, loneliness, salvation, and love from the perspective of a young man. It is the idea of the 'now' being tomorrow's history, an ever-distant memory. These themes are put to the soundtrack of an understated post-punk musing. The first B-side, ‘The Time Goes On’, was originally released by The Vodka Tourists in 1988 and is a simple and pure take on the cult of celebrity. The song generated followings for the band in France and Switzerland, as well as being played on BBC Radio. The track listing is concluded with ‘The Spirit of Summertime, a previously unreleased offering that has never quite fitted in until now. On the track, the listener is encouraged to delve back into their memories, accepting that these times, places, and occasions now only exist in the mind.

This release is firmly rooted in sounds of new wave and post-punk but has further nods to the stylistic approaches of jangle pop, psychedelia, powerpop and even glam rock. The release covers both where The Vodka Tourists are headed, where they are coming from, and somewhere in between too.

A warm welcome back to The Vodka Tourists.

For fans of World of Twist, The Byrds and T. Rex.
