about

'That Day' is a charity single from John Donegan on Aldora Britain Records released on Friday 1st May 2020.

I contacted John asking if he had anything hidden away in his archives that we could rework as a charity single to support our heroic key workers. Within hours, I found 'That Day' in my mailbox. The song demonstrates Donegan's signature cinematic approach to songwriting and perfectly reflects the horrifying times that people all over the world are currently enduring.

Donegan has revealed, however, that the song was written many years ago following another human tragedy. It was originally inspired by the 9/11 attacks and, bizarrely enough, the British comedy-drama series, Cold Feet. An eclectic range of inspirations as is ever the case with Donegan's work.

The empowerment and hope that pours out of this song is overwhelmingly breathtaking and leaves the listener with goose bumps. It is the perfect musical encapsulation of hope for tomorrow, and hope their definitely is.

This song has been released exclusively on the Aldora Britain Records Bandcamp page and is available from £1 (donations are welcome). All proceeds are donated towards our frontline health workers via the NHS Charities Together website.

"A profoundly emotional tribute provoking us with a feeling of new beginnings and togetherness. Uniting us throughout the world through this difficult time with his astounding modulated voice, filling our hearts with hope and reassurance, reminding us that we are not alone. A fitting song dedicated to our incredible NHS and key workers.” - Johnny Bradley, Mods of Your Generation
