UKRAINE CHARITY APPEAL - RELEASE 2

Aldora Britain Records presents the second release in our 'Rumours Of Light' series. This album is a 60 song digital boxset in support of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the people of Ukraine. Our first release has raised £157 so far and we hope to do so much more through using the power of music. This project features a further 60 artists from ten different countries and is specifically in aid of DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Alongside these 60 artists, we have also collaborated with Alex Lourie who has contributed the picture for the cover artwork. Alex's footage and photographs have been used in media coverage all around the world. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Alex, not only for coming on board with this project, but for his fearless and courageous work on the frontlines, capturing heart-breaking scenes and ensuring Ukraine's story is told to the world.

You may remember with the first 'Rumours Of Lights' release, we caught up with Ukrainian psychedelic rock musician Art Dudko, of the band Straytones. I had another chat with him recently and he asked me to share the words below. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Art at this time.

"I’m still in Kyiv. I chose not to move anywhere. As you may have heard, the Russian Army has moved away from the Kyiv area, and also from other northern parts of Ukraine. Officially, they claim that this is their gesture to pave the way for future negotiations. In realty, there are a few main reasons why they did this:"

"1. The Ukrainian Army were counter-attacking successfully. They were fleeing scared of revenge and death."

"2. They had a lot of injured soldiers. Their military groups required more men. There are a number of intercepted phone calls that prove both of these clauses."

"3. They realised that they couldn’t take any ground in any direction. So, they have decided to move these forces to the Donbas and to the south to have a better chance there."

"It is now really quiet in Kyiv and there is no reason to move somewhere else. You have probably now seen the terrifying pictures and videos from the suburbs of Kyiv, mainly from Irpin and Bucha. Those who didn’t believe that their army acts like scum now have plenty of evidence. There are plenty of murdered civilians with hands tied, all ages. Raped women. Robbed apartments. They are now trying to sell ‘loot’ in Belarus. Washing machines, computers, toys and other domestic equipment. This is just the beginning of it. There are plenty of cities and villages that are now de-occupied. Bucha is just the tip of the iceberg."

"You know, I always tried to be a humanist, a pacifist. Even our music is soaked with peace and joy, but this whole situation makes me feel a lot of anger and hate. Not only this war, but also the fact that due to disgusting and lousy propaganda, 85% of Russians support this war. They honestly believe that they have a right to do this. Today, I read another propaganda article where they were saying that all Ukrainians who fought against Russia and supported resistance should be murdered. All intelligent and culture-related people should be repressed. The Ukrainian language must be banned, vanished and forgotten. You know why? Because they claim that Ukrainians are Nazis…"

"THIS IS ABSURD!"

"This is even worse than what Orwell wrote in 1984, ‘War is peace, freedom is slavery’. They are putting everything upside down."

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff.
