about

UKRAINE CHARITY APPEAL

Aldora Britain Records presents Rumours Of Light, a 60 song digital boxset in support of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the people of Ukraine. We feel that it is our duty to use the power of music to help in any way we can. The project features 60 artists from eight different countries and is in aid of the DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Alongside these 60 artists, we have also collaborated with Alex Lourie who has contributed the picture for the cover artwork. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Alex, not only for coming on board with this project, but for his fearless and courageous work on the frontlines, capturing heart-breaking scenes and ensuring Ukraine's story is told to the world.

I would like to share the below words from Art Dudko, frontman of Straytones, a much loved band in the Aldora Britain Records Community. They are from Kyiv. Our thoughts are with them, their family and friends, and all Ukrainians at this time.

"It's always nice to know that someone likes your music. However, in this situation, it doesn't get me any satisfaction. Two hours ago a missile was shot down just two blocks away from my house. A lot of Ukrainian cities are bombed and besieged … I'm still in Kyiv, thinking about what to do. Either to stay or try to leave the city. Tough decision. Thanks for making a charity project, I'm sure it will come in handy! Other than that, I don't know how else you can help Ukrainians. Probably by not letting this war be forgotten in the forthcoming weeks. They commit war crime after war crime, and who knows how many more people will die because of this senseless Russian rage."

From budding rock and rollers to the frontline of a war at the drop of a hat. The Straytones became part of our community just days before the Russian invasion. Many have already taken to their unique, colourful and completely psychedelic take on modern rock music. This could be a band from London, Paris, Hamburg, Rome or any other European city. Over the last few months, they played music live in the nightclubs of Kyiv. Today, they face terror.

The last time Art and I spoke, his words were pure and simple, quoting one of the most recognisable of protest songs...

"We shall overcome."

We stand with you and we stand with Ukraine.
