about

It is with great pleasure that we welcome rootsy Dutch blues trio Katvanger to the Aldora Britain Records family.

"Roots-inspired music, topical and 'grown up' lyrics and themes, tongue firmly in cheek."

Katvanger, like so many other bands during the global pandemic, faced the gargantuan obstacle of not being able to share a stage with each other. No gigs, no concerts, no live performance - the life blood of a band. Under these circumstances, Katvanger wisely decided to revisit and explore some older material. Step forward 'Let's Build A Wall' and 'Please Forgive Me', two living room recordings that, for one reason or another, were never quite finished and polished off. In true Katvanger style, these songs present themselves as rootsy blues political satire.

For fans of Steve Earle, Randy Newman and Mose Allison.

'Let's Build A Wall': a brief history lesson in the futility of border walls with special attention for the ill-conceived ambitions of a recent resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC.

'Please Forgive Me': a morality tale about the deleterious consequences of profligate living and bad advice. Not altogether coincidentally, it’s also a sympathetic, if somewhat oblique allegory, about a recent European debt crisis. Huh? Yes, kind of geeky but we don’t think it detracts from the music.
