Singer-songwriter extraordinaire Jim Powell returns to Aldora Britain Records with a fantastic snapshot from his upcoming third album.

'Home To Catalonia' shows a fresh and unique side to Powell's musicianship. This instrumental track has flourishes of Renaissance music, neo-medieval mysticism, and flamenco guitar punctuation. It is a brilliant collision of vastly different approaches and eras. The flipside, entitled 'Nothing Of Mine', is a more 'classic' approach for Powell, a gritty and earthy musing through the worlds of folk rock and alt country.

For fans of Neil Young, Wilco, The Jayhawks, Son Volt, and Amazing Blondel.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
