about

Weekly Independent Music Taster #90

This week's independent music sampler is called Chocolate, the title being a reference to the latest release from French garage rock duo The Fuzz and Drums. This collection features a song from that record, a sun-soaked foray into garage rock. Alongside this, there are 23 underground, undiscovered gems from all around the world. As always, please download, listen loud, dig deeper with your discoveries, and support Aldora Britain Records and independent music.

There are a number of familiar faces this week. We welcome back original 70s punk and founding member of Eater, Brian Chevette. Brian gives us some rumbling post-punk. Christopher Peifer also returns with bass-heavy melodic powerpop and Armchairanarchists bring us a post-punk / Madchester crossover. Yannick Peings (member of the Blackball Bandits) delivers some speed-of-sound surf under his solo pseudonym The Cholla.

Tim Ainslie and Happy Tooth both contribute two tracks each. Tim gives us his unique quirky blues shuffle with The Vibes and also Ainslie's Vibes. Happy Tooth showcases his brilliant take on independent hip hop. He makes a solo contribution as well as a take from his collaborative project with Dug. The tracks showcase two different sides of his approach. Go Down Records also appear again with The Hornets, boogie-driven southern rock.

Elsewhere we have the prohibition ragtime blues of The See See Riders, the bombastic alternative Americana of Fun Forest and the tender and reflective folk rock of Lannie Flowers (appearing courtesy of Big Stir Records). There is post-punk noir blues from Circus Of Bones, marching garage punk from Clavicule and strutting glam rock from The Smoking Flowers. The Accidentals give us an indie folk marvel, Mark Somers delivers old-time folk blues and Letlo Vin brings tender-hearted indie folk.

The is a progressive folk epic from Mike Bailey, Americana country folk from Mike Stapleton and brooding alternative rock from Shefound. The final contribution comes in the form of New Machines' rhythmic post-punk.

Special thank you to all the artists involved and the music lovers that keep coming back to AB Records. Enjoy, play loud and see you next week!
