about

Weekly Independent Music Taster #87

Back again with CANDY CANE, a collection of 24 superbly eclectic sonic adventures from the independent underground. This week, the title track comes from Australian alt poppers Annual Leaf. As always, please download, listen loud, dig deeper with your discoveries, and support Aldora Britain Records and independent music.

We welcome back a number of familiar faces this week. There is the cosmic Americana psychedelia of The New Aquarians, the rootsy folk rock of Ben Reel (exclusive) and the post-punk experimentations of Driving School (exclusive). We have neo-trad folk from Bronco Hutchings, fuzzy funk rock from Cara Lee Coleman and prog rock adventures from Terry Finch. Josie Bello is the final returning face, playing us some classic-sounding country with a very modern message. There is a contribution from the late Terry Clark also. The song is taken from his concept record about Dylan Thomas, the sound is Americana-tinted folk rock. This collection is also dedicated to Terry's memory.

Estonian indie pop extraordinaires Sibyl Vane open this week's collection and are closely followed by the punk blues of The Zimmerman Twins. Mick Shaffer has the roots rock covered, Mat D storms in with a bluesy rock number and Ben Matchett gives us a meaningful folk rock original about PTSD. Brian Ledford follows in this folk rock vein with an Americana twist and Brook Adams contributes more gritty roots rock. Adams also features later in the set with his El Borko surf side project.

We have country rock from Charlie Hager, soulful Americana from Emma Kieran and jangly pop rock from Yeti Set Go. There is the alternative folk rock take of Mickelson, a grungy escapade from Shame - Loud Band and Celtic musings from Davie Alexander. American folk artist Lost Voices then plays us out.

Special thank you to all the artists involved and the music lovers that keep coming back to AB Records. Enjoy, play loud and see you next week!
