Aldora Britain Records deliver some Massachusetts country this week with an honest new single from Stan Matthews. This is the first of three songs that Matthews will be bringing us in the next few months.

'Bad' is an honest and stark musing from this Stetson-wearing troubadour. It transports the listener back to a more traditional take on the country genre, emphasising tight instrumentation and brilliant storytelling. A classic country swing crossed with an irresistible garage Hammond sound. There is an intrinsic outlaw feel to the track too, as if the Wild West has been cut and paste into a more contemporary setting. Stan Matthews' deep-set and reserved vocal perfectly contrasts the outbursts of gospel euphoria from his backing ensemble, a definite highlight of the composition.

For fans of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson.
