about

Weekly Independent Music Taster #61

Independent, underground, authentic. This week's compilation is called All Back To The Apocalypse Club and it is the first to have one of the featured artists appear on the cover. The title is a reference to Cory Fay & The Good Goddamn's album, Greetings From The Apocalypse Club, a record of fantastic experimental alt country. The band contribute their track 'Thanks (For All The Randy Newman)'. The cover image is of Stephanie Catlett, an old friend of Aldora Britain Records, and is taken from the photoshoot for her latest record, Caught Under Glass. Catlett contributes 'Pool Rats Of Park Road' as the third track.

Elsewhere, we welcome back Luxembourg's regressive rock kings, Horny Henry, with 'Bad Cash', a track they recorded in lockdown. We then feature countless fresh faces from all around the world. Martyn Roper opens this week's collection with a distinctive blues stomper, Mike Montrey Band and Strand show differing takes on alt country, and Charlie Marks rewinds the clock with his old time bluegrass. Emperor Penguin provide a jangly powerpop excursion and The Scoffs deliver their Seattle sound punk.

Paul Silveria and Adam "Ditch" Kurtz contribute two separate instrumental tracks, the former a traditional Americana dance and the latter a pedal steel country ballad. There is storytelling Americana from Jesus Villa, bluesy rock from Andy Watts and Copperworm, and contemporary rock from Keeper and The Love Songs. High Vision and The CheeseBergens are pure punk rock and roll, and Q Shaq changes the tempo with dub reggae.

The closing trio consists of gothic rock from Astrolab, ambient electro rock from Painted Romans, and metal from Diabology. An eclectic set, for sure! Please download, listen loud, dig deeper with your discoveries, and support Aldora Britain Records and independent music.

Happy holidays and enjoy!
